Pune Metro Update: Regarding the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro line project, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has extended the deadline for Siemens and Tata to September 2025.

The Pune Metro route-3 project is a 23-kilometer elevated metro train route that connects Shivajinagar with Hinjewadi, an IT powerhouse. The revised date, which was initially set for March 2025, gives more time to finish the project.

“We have agreed to extend the deadline for the metro work until September 2025, following a request from the contractor,” said Yogesh Mhase, the PMRDA commissioner, according to the Hindustan Times story. The building process has accelerated after this ruling.


The state administration authorized the transfer of land at Raj Bhavan for the building of a metro station during a recent meeting with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The transfer of land at Modern College is also under progress. The creation of parking amenity places close to the Line-3 stations has been discussed with representatives of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).


Project Update for Pune’s Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro

According to officials, the project is presently 82% finished. Important milestones have been completed, including the construction of railway tracks and ducts. Installing escalators, traffic signals, and electrical equipment at 23 stations is the main goal of the latter phases of construction.


The project was delayed last year because of problems with licenses and land acquisition, which sparked worries about possible penalties. As a result, contractors accelerated their work. The remaining work is almost finished, especially at the stations of Baner, Sakalnagar, Civil Court, and eleven others.


Siemens Project Ventures and TRIL Urban Transport Private Limited (TUTPL), a division of the Tata Group, are working together to build this public-private partnership project. The first metro pillar was built in April 2022 after construction got underway in November 2021.
