Lucy Boynton takes the lead in a new true crime drama covering the life and death of Ruth Ellis.
A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story, which airs on ITV1 at 9pm on Wednesday (March 5), shows Lucy's glamorous life running the Little Club in London.
Despite attracting the attention of one of her customers Desmond Cussen, she fell for David, played by Laurie Davidson, who became violent during an intense relationship.
Things came to a head on Easter Sunday 1955 with Ruth shooting David dead outside a pub in Hampstead. The drama then looks at the trial and her subsequent death sentence.
In July 1955 Ellis became the last woman to be hanged in Britain, after she shot dead her abusive lover David Blakely. The ITV drama looks at the story behind the story, which shocked the country.
