Ravichandran Ashwin, one of his generation of India's finest cricketers, retired from the international stage during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Ashwin retired from international cricket for India after playing 106 Test matches. However, this was not his plan. Experienced spin-chanders all-rounder admitted that he wanted to retire after playing the 100th Test, which he did in Dharamshala against England. But he extended his plan a little further. In the 100th Test, Ashwin also asked his former captain MS Dhoni to be present, but it did not happen.
On the occasion of Ashwin's 100th Test, a special ceremony was organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), where this legendary cricketer was also given a memento. But, Ashwin wanted him to get this souvenirs at the hands of Dhoni, who could not come there unfortunately. During an event in Chennai, Ashwin revealed that although he did not get the desired gift from Dhoni on his 100th Test, he got a better surprise when the former Indian captain added Chennai Super Kings to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction.
Ashwin said during a book launching program in Chennai on Sunday that I had called MS Dhoni to hand over a memento for my 100th Test in Dharamshala. I wanted to make it my last Test. But he could not come. However, I did not think he would give me a gift to bring me back to CSK. this is much better. Thank you for this. I'm happy to be here.
Ashwin, who started his IPL career with CSK in 2008, has returned to the 5 -time champion team for the first time after being out after the 2015 season. Ashwin has played for many franchisees including Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals in the last decade. He said that the most important thing is that I have not returned to CSK as any person who has achieved a lot, but has come as a person who has gone through the full cycle and wants to come back here and enjoy it as before. This is a wonderful place.
