Tanuj Mahashabde is widely recognized for his role as Krishnan Subramaniam Iyer, popularly known as Mr. Iyer , in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah . His portrayal of the intelligent yet short-tempered scientist, often engaging in humorous banter with Jethalal, has made him a fan favorite.

Before winning hearts in TMKOC, he appeared in the iconic crime drama, showcasing his talent in a different genre. A video from CID featuring Tanuj Mahashabde is going viral on social media. In the clip, he is seen portraying the role of a watchman. Inspector Abhijeet questions him about a killer, leading to a humorous mix-up between a sketch and a photograph, creating a lighthearted moment in the otherwise intense crime show. Tanuj’s character finds himself on the receiving end of ACP Pradyuman ’s scolding as he is called in to identify the person in the sketch. The ACP presses him to recall whether he has seen the suspect before, adding tension to the scene. Tanuj's character ends up helping the CID team.
Tanuj Mahashabde has been part of TMKOC for 17 years now and recently in a conversation with TOI TV, he shared that the cast has grown into one big family.
He said, "The show is going on for the last 16 years and it is only because of the love of the viewers. As I mentioned that all the festivals throughout the year we celebrate on the sets first with our reel family. Most of our time we spend on the sets. We give daily 12 to 14 hours to the show. Jab sets par aate hain toh lagta hai ghar par aur jab ghar par jaate hain toh lagta hai kaam par aagaye. Our families keep us happy and give us live entertainment and once we leave home to come to the sets, they watch us on their television screens. Dono manage hojaata hai..," he shared.
