could lose Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk all on free transfers this summer - and another similar issue could be looming. Alexander-Arnold is tipped to join Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer, while Salah and Van Dijk are currently set to become free agents too. The Reds have been criticised for letting the contracts of their three key players run down, and they may run into a similar situation with another star player next season.

This is because Ibrahima Konate's contract at Anfield is set to expire in June 2026, and the club has yet to make any headway in negotiations with the French international. Konate has become a regular in the first team this season, establishing himself as Virgil van Dijk's main partner since his move to Merseyside in 2021. As a result, Konate's value has increased, and he understandably wants his elevated status in the team to be reflected in any new deal at Anfield.

According to , Konate currently earns £80,000 per week under the terms he signed when he joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig four years ago, but his representatives are reportedly pushing for the 25-year-old to be offered £200,000 per week to secure his future with the club.

Konate has notably been tight-lipped over his Liverpool future after admitting he's been offered a new deal, saying in January: "It's true, I've been offered a new contract by Liverpool. Am I close to signing it? That's another conversation."

Konate's affection for Paris Saint-Germain has not gone unnoticed, a sentiment reinforced by ESPN's January report highlighting the centre-half's interest in switching to his hometown club.

With Konate having stalled on contract renewal talks that began before October last year, there is growing trepidation among the Anfield faithful about his long-term commitment to the cause, especially given the prolonged nature of negotiations.

Contrastingly, Van Dijk offered a more optimistic update post-Liverpool defeat at Fulham, hinting at progress in his own discussions to remain on Merseyside.
