There are fears a big cat is on the loose after the discovery of two sheep and a lamb savagely killed. Alicia White, a horrified walker, stumbled upon the chilling scene.

The sheep had been stripped to the bone, while the lamb had its head completely removed. Alicia is convinced these are the doings of a massive, feral, feline.

She's no stranger to rumours of such creatures lurking around her hometown. Aged 21 and working on a farm, she found the gory scene near her Carmarthen home.

Speaking with NeedToKnow, she recounted: "I found them up behind our house. The lamb's head was completely gone and the other two sheep had their skulls eaten in half. I've never seen anything like it before. It does make me think it is possible it was done by a big cat.

"I know there's been sightings here in south Wales before. It really does make you think of the possibility. I do definitely believe big cats are in Britain. I'm originally from Devon and used to camp on Dartmoor and with the amount of space up there, big cats could definitely be hiding."

This concern isn't without merit, following an incident last month where a seemingly large cat-like figure showed up on a doorbell camera video. The creature was caught perched on a skip in a village close to High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. Displaying a size far greater than your average housecat, the animal seemed at ease on the narrow edge.

The homeowner, David Lawrence, was none the wiser about his visitor until the large, six-foot-wide skip was hauled away. When he spotted the mysterious creature, he recounted: "It looked bigger than a normal cat. It was climbing into my skip.

"It has larger paws and a long thick tail and slightly smaller ears than a domestic cat. There's something about it that shouts to me it's not normal."

Last year brought some spine-tingling claims from Professor Robin Allaby of Warwick University who suggested the British countryside might be prowled by as many as 100 big cats. The Life Sciences expert stirred up quite the discussion with his discovery of 'Panthera genus' DNA on a sheep carcass in the Lake District, hinting at the presence of wild lions, leopards, tigers, jaguars, or even leopards in the UK's serene landscapes.
