PTC Web Desk: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) is set to elect its new president on April 12 at the Teja Singh Samundri Hall in Amritsar. The party's general session will begin at 11 am, where the leadership transition will take place, just ahead of the Vaisakhi festival.

At a meeting held on Tuesday under the leadership of acting president Balwinder Singh Bhunder, the party's Working Committee discussed the arrangements for the upcoming election. This meeting marks the final session of the Working Committee elected five years ago, with full attendance of all members.

Addressing the media after the meeting, senior SAD leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said the party's successful membership drive was a direct result of the dedication and hard work of its workers. “Our membership campaign received overwhelming support from the ground. We thank all workers and leadership for their relentless efforts,” Cheema said.

He further acknowledged the contributions of Sukhbir Singh Badal, noting that he worked tirelessly for the party. Cheema also appreciated Balwinder Singh Bhunder for his critical role during this transitional phase. A resolution was passed to extend gratitude to Bhundar for his leadership.

The party is expected to finalise its new president on April 12, ensuring a fresh start ahead of the traditional and politically significant festival of Vaisakhi.
