These things were said by specialist doctors of cardiology in a program organized at India International Center on World Health Day on Monday.


 


In this program, doctors discussed the increasing problem of heart disease, its symptoms and preventive measures. During this, Dr. Ambuj Rai, Professor of Cardiology Department of AIIMS, as the keynote speaker, gave the mantra of following 10 rules to keep the heart healthy.


 


Dr. Rai said that in case of a heart attack, it is necessary to identify the symptoms early, do an ECG and immediately give blood thinning and clot buster medicines. If treatment is given within an hour of the heart attack, many lives can be saved. Currently, 45 percent of patients die at home before reaching the hospital. Only 10.8 percent of patients are able to reach a hospital equipped with facilities for the treatment of heart disease.


 

It is necessary to consume 400 grams of fruits and green vegetables every day

 


 


He said that after 25 years of age, blood pressure, sugar and cholesterol should be checked once a year for heart screening. People with pre-hypertension should get their blood pressure checked regularly. Green vegetables and fruits should be consumed in large amounts. It is necessary to consume 400 grams of fruits and green vegetables every day. Millets like ragi, jowar, bajra and dal, beans should be used for protein instead of rice.


 


It is also necessary to exercise for 150 minutes a week and walk 7,000 steps every day. Do not sit for long continuously. Sitting for long can also cause problems. Dr. Nitish Naik, Professor, Cardiology Department, AIIMS, said that heart diseases are increasing at a young age. For this, it is important to take care of health. Take nutritious and balanced diet. Whether you are a vegetarian or non-vegetarian, include protein, minerals, calcium and all nutrients in your diet as per your choice.
