The tearful season finale of The Kardashians Season 6 recalled memories of the late patriarch of the family, Robert Kardashian Sr. , and quietly suggested tension with his widow, Ellen Pierson .
In an emotional interview, Kim and Khloé Kardashian discussed recurring nightmares that each of them has had about their father, who died in 2003 after a brief fight with esophageal cancer. Kim, 44, described a recent nightmare that brought on surprising feelings — one in which their father remained alive and in Los Angeles, but with his then-wife Ellen, and was in hiding from his children.
Ew," Khloé responded on the spot when Kim brought up Ellen — a quick but telling reaction that established the sisters are still uncomfortable with their deceased father's last relationship.
While the topic was touched on very briefly throughout the episode, it was apparent that the Kardashian sisters ' emotions regarding Ellen are still multifaceted. Kim broke out the dream and called Khloé during a confessional in an effort to piece together some additional details. When Ellen's name surfaced again, one of the producers wrongly assumed that they were speaking of former talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, so Kim corrected with a chuckle, "No, his wife."
With a piercing but sarcastic tone, she continued, "That would've been the dream," referring once again to what seems to be a long-standing feud between the Kardashian clan and Pierson — one that continued even after the death of Robert Sr.
Robert Kardashian Sr. wed Ellen Pierson shortly before his passing, and the union has long been a sensitive subject for the family. Though the sisters are frequently effusive and respectful about their dad, mentions of Ellen have been sparse and frequently tinged with embarrassment.

This rare mention on The Kardashians offers a glimpse into the unresolved emotions the family continues to navigate — balancing grief, legacy, and complicated family dynamics more than two decades after their father’s passing.
